One of Holland's most respected trance jocks brings us his new single as the second release on his newly found label. The package includes two mixes by Ferry himself plus a remix by Ron van den Beuken. Time to check it out!

The first release on Flashover called 'Who's Knockin' by FB feat. Edun has been brought out about two months ago, also including an interpretation by labelboss mr. Corsten. Seems like he's on a roll at the moment, because another one of his tunes ('Star Traveller') was recently released on Tsunami, the label with which he first put out his tracks.
This new vinyl comes in three mixes, and includes vocals by Simon le Bon from Duran Duran.

A: Flashover Remix
Ferry's Flashover mixes mostly induce a more energetic vibe to be put over the original, and that's quite exactly what's going on here as well. His well-known trademark percussion serves as the base, led on by swift FX, soaring strings and a jamming, deep bassline to complete the picture. One of the most interesting things about this mix is that subtle lil' riff that's being brought forward during the build. It's catchy as hell and plays along in a great way with all the other elements. The breakdown consists of calm guitar-ish chords doing their thing together with mister le Bon's vocals. It's very noticeable that this track was made to appeal to a great number of people by using infectious male vocals and a very positive atmosphere created by all the melodic structures. Not one of Ferry's best works, but still a nice vocal trancer which will definitely work out on just about any dancefloor.
Rating: 7,5/10

B1: Extended
This mix also includes most of that distinct percussion, but brings it in a slightly different way. Most of the melodies from the A-side are here as well, but all altered in a cute way to show that a lot can be done by just using different sounds and structures. The overall feel of this one sounds even more positive than the one in the Flashover mix, mainly caused by the more gentle sounding catchy riffs and a constantly altering bassline. The vocals got a special treatment as well, because this time they are soaked in a bath of effects during the break. They return at full capacity during most of the track's climactic moments, backed by all the hum-along melodies and the fine as always percs. I thought the Flashover Remix would appeal to lots of people, but I think this one does even more.
Rating: 7/10

B2: Ron van den Beuken Remix
We all know mister van den Beuken for his rough tech-trancers, and this one's no exception! Right at the beginning, a badass drive is being injected into the sound spectrum by combining a rather high BPM with fast percussional elements, a rolling bassline and some other stuff that definitely helps thrusting the track to great heights. Small bits of filtered vox are being put over the other elements in a nice way, creating multiple very effective intermezzos with the bass kicking in at full speed again. This remix is all about banging, banging and banging again; immense amounts of power are being unleashed constantly, especially working out to great effect during the main climax which relies on a typical stabby RvdB riff. If you need a track to get rid of some stress, put this one on! It will most likely cure you in no-time.
Rating: 8/10

Conclusion:
Ferry's two mixes sound quite alike percussion-wise, but that's where most of the reminiscence comes to an end. The Flashover mix brings about a slightly more powerful atmosphere with its cool climaxes and all, while the Extended does things in a slightly more gentle way by using somewhat calmer melodies and a more radiofriendly feel. Ron van den Beuken's mix is a real floorkiller with its amazing drive and nice stabby rhythms. A worthy second release on this new label!
