Proton music has a new remix competition running at the moment with their forthcoming label track Blake Jarell 'Okoboji'. It's your chance to put your production skills into practice and win some very nice prizes.
It's the fourth track from the Proton label to be featured in a remix competition with Ableton sponsoring it. There are plenty of prizes up for grabs with the winning remixer receiving a copy of Ableton Live 5.0, a Beatport gift certificate to be used on the Beatport download service and their remix fully released and signed to the Proton Music label. Each copy of the release sold with the winners remix on also gets the winner a majority royalty for each copy. Not a bad set of prizes for a remix I think you will agree.
The track in question should give you a fair challenge to remix. Not yet released the original mix from which the samples for the remix are to be taken is an eleven minute epic breakbeat affair. You can pretty much remix the track in whatever fashion you see fit but only using the samples provided in the competition pack. On the site there is a remix by Openclound to give you a few ideas on how you could approach it.
There are a few rules to the competition:
- All entries to be sent in no later than 9th February 2006 - Tracks can either be sent in digtal form or sent in by post. - All submitted remixes become the property of Proton until the official announcement of the winner.
All the details and other rules and regulations regarding the contest are all on the Proton Radio website.
