Dave Seaman's label returns with the followup to his Beyond Borders:Greece CD with upfront CD 1 mixed by Seaman himself and disc 2 with full tracks unmixed. Check it out.
Dave Seaman – This is Audiotherapy (Audiotherapy)
Does Dave Seaman really need an intro? Seaman of deejaying fame, being bald headed, half of BiR, running Mixmag in 1992, known for Renaissance mixes, 3 GU’s and his own label Audiotherapy besides touring the world and probably being the funniest deejay on the planet.
Audiotherapy has seemed to have really taken off since Dave Seaman launched it, a few years ago. The success has come with Seaman taking more notice to everything that is not Australia, some could argue that Seaman got too involved with that country and their artists, shown by GU 022. Anyway Audiotherapy follows up the Across Borders CD with this 2XCD. CD 1 brings you the latest tracks from Audiotherapy mixed by Seaman himself and CD 2 does what Hope and TCR already did, it’s a CD of new tracks from Audiotherapy unmixed and in full form here.
CD 1 – This is Audiotherapy mixed by Dave Seaman
01 Nick & John Dalagelis Quiet (Stelios Is Watching) (with Infusion Legacy (Acapella) 02 Habersham Dryspell 03 Kosmas Epsilon Monster Puppy 04 Kosmas Epsilon Ill Ssa (V-Sag Remix) 05 Kosmas Epsilon & Viton There Can Be Only One 06a Phil K & Habersham Cloudbrake (Oliver Moldan Remix) coupled withGroup Therapy - My Own Worst Enemy (Acapella) 07 Prawler Marraca$h 08 Stel Finding Time (Alternate Mix) 09 Killahurtz Kiss For The Dying (Hybrid Matrix Dub) 10 Tone Depth To The Moon (Dark Dub) 11 Phatjak Dirty Sunday (Dimi Phaze Remix) CD 2 Unmixed
01 Phil K & Habersham Cloudbrake (Oliver Moldan Remix) 02 Group Therapy My Own Worst Enemy (Chris Walsh & Jeremy Coutre Remix) 03 Kosmas Epsilon Monster Puppy 04 K-Roxx Surreal (Trafik Remix) 05 Ashland Clear (Stel & Tone Depth Remix) 06 Panopticon Revealing The Door (Sean Quinn & Dan Mangan Remix) 07 Filterfuks Mojo (Steve Porter Remix) 08 Killahurtz Kiss For The Dying (Hybrid Matrix Dub) 09 Highland No Way Out (George Thompson vs. Acid Rockers Remix) Dave Seaman is sure trying to make it up to us for the pathetically boring Global Underground 022 in Melbourne and he returns to what made him such an amazing deejay. The free flowing progressive house risk taking is back and this pushes Audiotherapy into a new light. He starts off using the Greek connection again with Quiet coupled with Infusion’s Legacy Acapella, it works well but nothing tops the fooking Junkie XL mix, still Audiotherapy’s greatest track. Habersham’s dryspell takes this into a more breakbeat oriented fare, which is a nice track and who knew Audiotherapy dug Habersham?.
Seaman then reaches for the Kosmas Epsilion trio with songs 3, 4 and 5 and he seems to be getting better and better with his tracks and these ones here are no slouches. Track number six takes us into Cloudbrake with My Own Worst Enemy Acapella, the power of that vocal still hits me hard and by now Seaman has hit his stride. Maraca$h comes in next and it’s a solid track as well, it seems that Seaman has finally got his act together. He then continues the Greek connection with Stel’s Finding Time, which is a solid track that continues to build the mix up. Then the shocker of the mix, which contains a Hybrid Dub, which everyone thought they were given up for dead. Hybrid overproduces the track as usual but that’s why we love them.
Seaman then reaches back for the Greek connection with Tone Depth’s To The Moon Dark Dub, which really pushes this mix into the dark atmosphere and I really think this track gets me going for some reason. Phatjak ends the mix with a real corker here, its sort of a mixed bag of tracks when you first look at it but it comes together.
Disc 2 is all full tracks and unmixed, it contains some real boring tracks but it contains some real corkers. The main attractions here are My Own Worst Enemy, the Coutre and Walsh mix that really pushes the vocal in a good direction but I still prefer the orignal mix. Ashland’s Clear with the Stel and Tone Depth mix works well on a level as well and then the Hybrid Matrix Dub of Killahertz’ kiss for the dying. Steve Porter’s mix of Mojo works really well as well.
The rest of the tracks could have been shot and buried, the awful remix of Highland’s No Way Out, where is the passion for the main vocal?
Conclusion:
Seaman delivers a mixed bag, some tracks are really really good but some are just plain awful but he is trying to make up for GU022, so you must give him that
