© ivibesThe new image of ID&T's Innercity was finally revealed on 17th of December in Amsterdam RAI. Intimate scene and absence of superstar DJs gave the party a touch of underground.

Amsterdam RAI hosted the 1st edition of Innercity in 1999 and ever since was the party in question a synonym for popularity and trend. But he 6th edition of Innercity, held on 17th of December will be remembered for something else - namely for being something completely different. Innercity put on »new clothes« and offered its visitors everything what a modern dance scene has to offer but in a slightly different way. Without dazzling performers in shiny clothes, without special theme and excessive light show it was everything about the main reason of visiting the event - about the Music.

Intimate and undergroundish interior co-created by Amsterdam underground graffiti artists was perfect for the musical styles that were hosted that night in Amsterdam RAI. Electro, minimal, urban, techno, hip hop, house and progressive sounds were resounding through the halls of Amsterdam RAI - this year smaller and more intimate as in the days when popular musical genres like trance and hard trance were the magnet that attracted 40.000 visitors and left many disappointed due to sold-out tickets.

You could easily begin and end the Innercity musical journey on the main floor and be totally satisfied with the evening. Bart Skills with his funky, danceable style, always new 2manydjs, "You gonna want me" Tiga, Alter Ego Live and at the end Technasia - could you wish for more? Yes? No worries, there were six more stages on the "menu".

Groovy Bart Skills in red light district ;)

Wandering through the halls of Amsterdam RAI you could experience all sorts of acts, styles and music. Intimate place where former bus driver Femke Handel and her sister Sanne astonished their audience with an interesting mixture of baby-doll image combined with 80s punk and modern electronica was the place to be for new age punk nostalgics. Further artists that represented the colors of electro music were names as DJ Touche, Glimmers, Terry Toner and Herr Arter and DJs Are Not Rock Stars!

...explosive Handel sisters...

Entering the vast techno area you could almost touch the positive energy initialized by the music of great techno names such as Dave Clark who gave his audience a really intense and hedonistic set. German - Dutch alliance Chris Liebing and Speedy J did their best for one more time and took the visitors towards the very end of a musical journey. Live act performed by Alloy mental live, band that embarked on a journey to redefine the boundaries of dance music, was definitely one of the most interesting experiences of Innercity.

not so red techno area

Urban and eclectic floor was the place to be if you wanted to experience the sexiest music of Junior Jack & Kid Creme, followed by Dutch urban miracle DJ Chuckie. And of course let`s not forget the marvelous MC Gee that did an excellent job keeping up the high spirits in his "working area".

Yes, this year`s Innercity sure was different. Its seven areas were hosted mainly by not so known artists who nevertheless did an excellent job. The right event for the ones who fancy a touch of underground and intimacy characteristic of times when electronic dance music was still in its infancy but don`t want to give up the quality and conformity of a first class event. To relive Innercity 2005 or just satisfy the curiosity in case you missed the event - double Innercity 2005 CD is available in shops.

...cosy & intimate Innercity...see you next year
