A new digital only label from Valentino Kanzyani, Jesus Loved You, is born. It's 1st release is a track by Kanzyani himself, 'iPray'...
:: Valentino Kanzyani - iPray :: Jesus Loved You :: JLY001
1) iPray (Original Mix) The first track begins with a percussively led section that makes you think you're in for a quite techy slice of house music. But when a new and lighter off-beat bassline is introduced and after a short while some soft, trancey, ambient pads in the background come in, you realise that you have something that's moving away from house and turning towards quite a trancey flavour. The track is divided into two progressive, beat driven sections, one either side of the long and contrasting breakdown which is a huge build of coarse synth, percussion and twisted sfx. Kanzyani has also put in some pretty awesome and unexpected sfx. Every once in a while you're treated to a huge, grinding, bassy blast of synth which is pretty cool, and there are other sfx thrown in which adds a bit of spice to keep things lively. My only gripe is that the track can sound a tiny bit empty at certain points.
2) iPray (Let iPray Pray 4U Mix) This remix of 'iPray' is actually in the style that you may have anticipated track one to be in. Lots of stark percussion and solid beats are just the simple foundations for the main body of the track's sound which is a filthy dirty bass synth. It grinds away rhythmically, capturing the essence of the electro sound that is getting more and more popular at the moment. The breakdown is another fantastic long and climactic build up and the great use of weird and wonderful sfx (plus that awesome bassy one used in the Original Mix) keeps things interesting throughout so there are no dull moments. This is a downright dirty monster. The techy, electro vibes will provide the goods and ignite the floors no doubt.
3) Home Alone (Main Mix) The final track here is an upbeat track somewhere in between house and prog. It carries an almost acid bassline and is under a constant sheath of sfx noise which can sound quite strange at times. It takes until after the breakdown for the track to finally figure itself out and it gains the feel of something fairly tech house in nature. To it's merit, it does have quite a drive pushing it on, but it may also be a bit too samey for some people.
Conclusion:
Quite a selection of styles on this first release on Valentino Kankyani's new JYL label. With all sorts of techy, fairly trancey and proggy sounds, this has a potentially wide audience. I think track 2, the Pray 4U Remix, is strongest and will attract most attention.
