Precursor's latest and what is sounding like his greatest release yet is out now on Spinnin' Records based 2Play Recordings. Let's see what techy trip Mr. Bolier can take us on this time around...
:: Leon Bolier Pres. Precursor - Signwave / Systomatic :: 2Play :: 2PLAY013
A: Signwave 'Signwave' is immediately techy - hefty, pounding beats and crisp percussion fused with a rhythmic bassline provides a groovy drive to move things along. The whole track focuses on the progression of the lead synth. It begins as a subtle sound, growing steadily whilst providing a lead rhythm, keeping things at a very steady pace. The break sees the synth go from it's infancy to something with a lot more substance where it adopts a different rhythm and also becomes more melodic too. This is where the Precursor style is most apparent in this track. A progressing and steady stomper.
AA: Systomatic On the flip, 'Systomatic' is based on a slightly lesser beat, but has a lot more bass to offer. The bassline is active and alive - it really fuels things here effortlessly and also has a hint of psy-trance style in it too, making the track more interesting than most techy tracks out there. You're driven into a short break which blends in the lead in this track - a clear and coarse synth playing a simple hook accompanied by some really small and sampled vocal snippets. This great little combination of elements adds even more drive and ambition to the sound and by the time you hit the main breakdown, you'll probably be begging for the track to drop back in! And when it does, everything just goes off. The synth returns stronger and coarser, sporting a stabbing melody which will energise the already wild crowds dancing to this tune even more! Superb!
Conclusion:
Definitely Precursor's best release yet, one both he and 2Play should be very proud of. 'Signwave' on the A-side is a cool, strong and chunky affair but 'Systomatic' on the B-side is where the stomping tech-trance action is! Don't miss this!
