It's time for another treat from the Spinnin' Records' WL department. The Freak is responsible for the wicked tough trancey action that can be found here...
:: The Freak - Elektra :: WL :: WL036
A: Elektra (Deep Mix) The Deep Mix of 'Elektra' kicks off on a positive and upbeat note. There's plenty to keep you interested in the clean and crisp sound - active bass, a host of sfx and blips, some intriguing synth work and also some smooth ambient pads are worked in there making for a blend of sound that is dripping with interest. A gentle, melodic and really trancey breakdown gives way to the focal point of the track. The feeling of the track is darkened and intensified into something more tense and a strong and powerful hook erupts from nowhere and takes on a dominating and almost kind of reverent sound. This powerful moment is enhanced by the use of some excellent stabbed synth notes and this makes for a really wicked final run for the tune. It ends on such a strong and domineering note that this track will stick in your mind and easily cause mayhem out on them there floors!
AA: Elektra (Club Mix) As soon as the bassline kicks in here, you can sense the darker and tougher nature that is carried along by this remix. Very quickly we're treated to some massive stabs of synth which aid the energetic and pulsating bassline immensely. After a climatic breakdown, the full power of the track is released. You're hit by a fantastic shower of stabbing synth rhythms and melodies which contain some ultra precise notes and cover all the right highs and lows without losing any power. The force from these massively strong synths is awesome and simply ignites the second half of this track. Fantastic stuff!
Conclusion:
It's always good to see a new addition to the WL family because of the label's diversity and sheer quality. Here are two fabulous pieces of tough trance from The Freak and you have a tough choice ahead of you to decide just which side of this banging record you're going to play!
