The growing trance and progressive label Alter Ego Records is home to a new project from Icone: Blue Manta. See how this slice of trance does with remix help from Progresia and Shawn Mitiska & Kevin Alves...
:: Icone Pres. Blue Manta - I Feel Lost :: Alter Ego Records :: AE002
1) I Feel Lost (Original Mix) 'I Feel Lost' gets off to a really positive start. The instruments are well defined - the kick is punchy, the bass is strong and very noticeable and there are some synths lining the background which are a teaser for the beautiful sounds to be found later on. A small amount of melodic activity is used as a precursor to the calm and gentle breakdown. Here, a synth backed piano melody plays out and is used to develop a synth counterpart. Lots of emotion stored up here and this is emphasised by the now synth driven melody which comes in powerful waves and explodes as the track drops back in. The medlody itself is awesome, but the synth used to power it is utterly immense - it's a truly definitive trance synth which propels the track into orbit and keeps it there. Hands in the air, shivers down the spine and a totally rocking dance floor will all be the result of this cracking tune.
2) I Feel Lost (Progresia Pres. Under Sun Remix) Progresia has also gone for the strong and trancey style, but has approached it in a different way. The kick is much softer and the bassline is less active and more rolling. There is a huge backing synth presence throughout the track with a crisp and icy sound, emphasising the trance element. The melody that we hear when things kick off has less impact though. It's still the same great melody but it has been toned down to blend in with the rest of this remix's subtle elements. Still a great trancer but one with less dancefloor impact.
3) I Feel Lost (Shawn Mitiska & Kevin Alves Main Remix) Shawn Mitiska & Kevin Alves provide a progressive touch to 'I Feel Lost'. Slowly paced and filled with deep and atmospheric sounds, this one slowly makes it's way through a gentle progression of ambience and delicate melody. Again, the instruments used are very well defined with excellent, true sounds. This adds a lot more life and energy within the track, so even though this is a very progressive version it is still nice to listen to.
Conclusion:
Overall, a wicked release! Alter Ego Records are making all the right moves so we should all look forward to more tracks as good as this one. The Original Mix comes out top of the pile due to that awesome synth, melody and it's general feeling of high energy and euphoria.
