I had to take a look at this when I saw this was being re-issued. Having *just* missed the Reactivate series when I was just discovering dance music, I heard people mention the name and talk about how good they were without ever getting a proper listen to what helped fuel todays genres and sub-genres.

Obviously this CD is retro in just about every way conceivable. So as long as you're prepared for that sound, things will be fine. Lots of the tracks are highly melodic with long, beautiful breaks, usually dropping back into acidic, repetitive loops which really have that 'rave' flavour - booming kicks and simple, stark lead synths. Others though are quite progressive and atmospheric, sharing similarities with todays Psy-Trance. plus there are tracks which, generally no matter when you got into dance music, you'll know - things like Outside World - Sunbeam and Jens - Loops & Tings.

Thing like this are so worth listening to. As well as providing an insight as to where a lot of today's music came from, it also shows how albums could be - a massive range of styles from melodic to rave playing from 135BPM through to 160BPM.

Conclusion:A true classic which mustn't be overlooked given this excellent chance at obtaining a re-issue. Plus those who were there 10 years ago should be graced with a whole load of good clubbing memories when they give this a spin!
