With a couple of releases under her belt, Sophie Sugar presents a brand new project on the exciting E-TCR label, ATCR's digital offshoot. Alex M.O.R.P.H. also provides two versions of his own remix...

:: Sophie Sugar Pres. Saona - Isis
:: E-TCR
:: ETCRCD007

1) Isis (Original Mix)

Having already received praise from the likes of Armin and Above & Beyond who have been pushing this track out on their radioshows, it leaves very little to say about this track. What you have here is a slice of solid trance action. Everything about this production seems to fit together perfectly like Lego. It's driven well by a strong beat and the right amount of percussion, and then the rest is done by some sweet combinations of synths. String pads gently lay on backing chords whilst a stronger, blissful synth pushes out an infectious hook. As the track progresses, the synths and layers get piled on, so the sound is continually growing making things feel stronger in a very natural and subtly climactic way. Can't go wrong with tracks like this.

2) Isis (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Mix 1)
Mr. M.O.R.P.H. steps in with two remixes of Sophie Sugar's new beauty. And of course, he brings them to us in his usual, powerful style. Comments on these tracks already include the words "mighty", "colossal" and "bottled lightning" so lets get and find out about them!
The sound is instantly stronger than the original - the beats are harder and the bassline is deep and lively. Thick trancey chords build the track up slowly to the breakdown. Here we are left to revel for a short while in some ambient beauty. Soon enough though, the melody begins to emerge from the depths. Alex basically turns up the heat and slowly brings this sleeping beauty to the boil until it just unleashes some seriously superb trancey sounds. This is pretty immense - thick, soaring synths fill your ears and mind. To hear this monster on the dancefloor would be a moment remembered for all time.

3) Isis (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Mix 2)
This second mix from Alex M.O.R.P.H. is very very similar to the first one. It's a little bit longer and the only difference I can seem to pick out are that the first half of the track is more driving - basically there's less tranciness before the breakdown. The breakdown itself is slightly extended, with a spine tingling section where you're teased by the main melody for a minute or so. Finally the main sections at the end of the track seem a bit stronger with less 'trance' to the sound and more 'bite'.

Conclusion:
What a release! This one must be checked out. Sophie Sugar's Original Mix is a lovely piece of trance whilst Alex M.O.R.P.H. steps in with two (subtly similar) utterly storming remixes. Sheer quality on a CD.
