Carlo Resoort donns his 4 Strings guise once again for the latest offering from Liquid Recordings. Read on to see if 4 Strings have developed their much enhanced style that has been progressing over their last few releases...
:: 4 Strings - Hurricane :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ058
A: Hurricane (Original Mix) This one kicks off with deep and thundering beats which if anything will make this one really simple to mix. The percussion comes in with strength too - crisp and tight - so theres a lot of strong impact early on here. A build of backing synths and energetic rolling bass prime the track and get things buzzing until the main track emerges from after the breakdown. We hear a typical 4 Strings style melody ringing out. The synth is clear and distinct, a very promiscuous sound. It has a lot of echo which gives the track a fairly sincere and solitary feeling. The rest of the track works around this melody, but it also features a 'false ending', where the track is reverted back to lone beats to tease you before a final breakdown and main section. Again, I think that 4 Strings have taken a close look at the sounds and instruments used and have made sure that they're all strong and full bodied, something which we've seen progressing over their last few releases, which is great because this way they've acheived much more depth to their music.
B: Hurricane (DJ 4 Strings Remix) The remix on the flip is structured in a very similar way to the Original Mix. The main difference lies with the backing synths and the main melody synth. They're all much more powerful and energetic. Their sound is grainier giving a tough but energy filled sound. because of this, and because of some tweaks to the drum patterns when the track drops, this remix has much more impact and a thicker, more intense trancey feel. This remix also features the 'false ending' but I think the style of the instruments gives this little feature a much greater overall effect.
Conclusion:
More top tunage from 4 Strings, who seems to always get it right. Some might say that this is a little too similar to earlier tracks, but that doesn't stop it from being a good piece of trance and it's still an excellent demonstration of how 4 Strings are tweaking their sound. The remix on the flip will probably have a stronger impact on the dancefloors.
