Sander van Doorn's latest masterpiece has landed! Read on to find out why this one is being championed by DJs and clubbers alike...!
:: Sander van Doorn - Pumpkin :: Oxygen Recordings :: OX013
A: Pumpkin (SvD Remix) 'Pumpkin' immediately lives up to your expectations of an SvD Remix of a Sander van Doorn track. Solid beats and percussion are bathed in a deep and flowing bassline whilst gritty, techy synths tease you with a small array of notes. There are some excellent contrasts in this track - the coarse, high pitched build ups vs. the deep, smooth and flowing main sections. As the track progresses, you witness a whole host of different sfx based sounds and samples - far too many to describe - a lot of which are present in the relatively calm breakdown. However, one mammoth buildup later, the track is in full force, bass booming and percussion thriving. Quite simply: Sander has done it again!
AA: Pumpkin (Original Mix) The Original Mix of 'Pumpkin' on the B-side of this release is a much darker affair. It sports a dark, driving sensation and has a daunting feeling which surrounds it due to deep, droning synths, quiet and woody percussion and some initial female voices which sing out long and eerie notes. Amid the whooshing sfx, you pick up the sounds of Sam Sharp influenced stabbing synths, but that isn't where this track is headed. Instead, it takes a big breather during the fairly melodic breakdown and after progressing through some big, beefy build ups, breaks out some electro synth driven melodies. The darker feeling is removed and while still very 'deep', this track now has a subtle uplifting essence to it. A very interesting piece, showing once more the technical brilliance behind Sander van Doorn.
Conclusion:
The Oxygen brand grows ever stronger with yet another winner from SvD. His distinct style reigns supreme. Of the two, the SvD Remix seems to be the favourite. Don't miss this one!
