Peter Dafnous is back with a new track on strengthening trance label TRR. He has had a string of releases and remixes recently, all showing how his production skills continue to go from strength to strength...
:: Peter Dafnous - Sweet Deception :: TRR :: TRR009
1) Sweet Deception (Original Mix) The Original Mix of 'Sweet Deception' kicks off into one of those styles and flavours where you can just tell that all the sounds and melodies that will follow will be of utmost quality. You're teased with some simple synth riffs and a driving yet not too heavy bassline. Dafnous slowly builds this up until you have a swirling soundscape of ambient backing synths, twisted sfx and synthy riffs. As this ever growing buildup progresses, you get hit by a wave of smooth and luxurious synths which begin to pave the way for the melodic beauty that this track holds. After a few more tantalising minutes the main melody of 'Sweet Deception' is set free and it's gorgeous. There's such a thick synth presence, and the melody blends in perfectly with all the backing and trancey ambience. This is just totally pure trance. The icing on the cake is the emergence of the track's first proper breakdown, which leads into the whole awesome trancey section one last time, so you get to experience plenty of it! This is a brilliant track - there's nothing deceptive here, just pure sweetness!
2) Sweet Deception (Hydroid Remix) Hydroid naturally puts in a much more toned down version of the track which is deep and proggy to the core. Along with the hypnotic basslines, there are also swirling melodic scales which capitalise on the general ambient feeling being given out by the track. This one is actually shorter than the original, which is unusual for a progressive remix, but that takes nothing away from what is essentially a nice bit of deep and gentle progressive trance.
Conclusion:
Another fine release on the TRR imprint. The Original Mix is a simply stunning piece of trance music.
