Ralph Wegner aliases as Elegance again, back on the Waterworld imprint, with more of his brand of high energetic trance...
:: Elegance - Impact / Natural High :: Waterworld :: WWR025
A: Impact 'Impact' really does try to do just that - make an impact. It pumps out the energy early on, exhibiting lots of traits from many harder styles of music. Most notable are the extreme screeching stabs which have a very hardstyle flavour to them, the sheer techy synths and the pumping off beat bass. Something of an oddity that all the DJs should watch out for, is a small pattern during the intro where a few offbeats are thrown in, alongside the normal beats, so expect a few possible suspect looks from some of the more discerning members of the crowd. the track gets properly rolling after a set of frenzied drum rolls and techy synth-fests and it's quite hard to tell what style this track is actually meant to be based on. This becomes more apparent though, after the breakdown when we hear a typical Wegner style powerful hard trance riff being powered out by some very strong synths. This is highly pumping and very energetic, one for the harder, more frenzied crowds.
B: Natural High 'Natural High' takes a totally different route to its A-side relative. The track is much more subdued, and there are ambient synths and delicate melodic hooks taking the centre stage this time. This does change slightly though, because after the breakdown, the power trance associated with Ralph Wegner's Elegance moniker shines through again. This time, soaring synths stab long and uplifting notes into the sky and create something energetic but very uplifting. Much trancier than 'Impact', it still retains the required energy to keep the tune, and the dancefloors, alive.
Conclusion:
A record of two rather different sides. The A is very hard and may lack appeal to the mainstream audience but the B side steps in and is likely to have much more appeal because of its uplifting and energetic trance nature.
