Moving onto a more chilled out house vibe we have a very exciting release on Existence Records to be released at the end of April. Forget about any April showers because here are Justin Xara and Art G bringing you a bit of September rain.
Justin Xara is really Justas Musteikis in house music drag and along with his partner in crime Art G is a duo to keep tabs on in the house scene. There last release came in for form a very fine house record called All The Answers which featured a remix by Paul Kwitek. What have they brought to the table with September Rain?
Original Mix
Get ready for a smooth grooved relaxing ride of top quality house. The record kicks into life with a very simple beat and feeds in the sounds with echoed vocals whispering the words September rain. There’s a nice soft touch piano slipping in and waves of sounds flashing back and forth into the record. It’s a smooth ride that lead’s into what I’d say is the main hook of the track, a deep smooth rhythm with whispering vocals sliding in and out. The backing is excellent with subtle changes in Patten that give this progressive style a nice edge. Then, everything stops and you enter what chilled out world of relaxing samples with a very good use of vocal giving it some real atmosphere. This is the kind of record to either warm you up or relax you out, a chilled out progressive bit of house that really has a great sound to it. I’ve not had the pleasure of this artist before but I’m very impressed with their work here.
PJ Davy Mix
This mix is fairly different to the original but keeps the progressive build. The backing beat is punchy with a looping roll in the foreground. It builds on the beat and introduces subtle changes to break up the pattern. The samples are there but the sound has been changed and given a more electric edge to them. The beat and loops on it are simply poured in and out with a short break mid track breaking it up nicely. The sound is deep but edgy with the vocals being chopped up bang in with a stutter effect. This style of sound will appeal to many but might be to crisp in comparison to the smoothly produced original.
Conclusion:
The second release from this pair on Existence Records and it’s a good showcase of what their talents can produce. The original is an excellent piece of soft relaxing progressive house with a smooth groove that I think will appeal to house lovers everywhere. The remix is nice and creates a different edge to the progressive arrangement of the original. Good stuff this is and worth having a butchers at, especially the original which I’m very impressed with.
