This, the 7th in the series, starts off true to the calm, smooth and progressive nature we've heard from this series before. It's very hard to define a direction that Each CD takes you in. CD1 begins fairly light and upbeat and you can feel electro vibes coming through from some of the tracks, but things also swing to a kind of housey style with a latino sound for a few tracks. But, the general jist of things is that as the CD progresses, the music does seem to get deeper and deeper. This opens up the progression for some seriously awesome tracks such as Slacker - Memory Man, Skystate - Soundflower One and Chab - Sunrise.
CD2 has a more definable direction. After a sweet and calm start, the electro flavours are very evident. There are many tracks with those phat electro synths, really defined kicks and distinct "piff" snares on every other beat. Halfway through though, the electro sound begins to metamorphose into something much much deeper and essentially progressive. It isn't surprising though is it - it wouldn't be a Renaissance album without some top quality progressive tunes! The special tunage to watch out for here is Chris Lake - Hype, Rowan & Jaytech - Tomorrow and Shiloh - Dream On (Luke Chable Remix).
Conclusion:
Dave Seaman makes sure this compilation lives up to all parts of its name. The tunes are totally Renaissance and the mix is that of a master, making this most undoubtedly part of the Renaissance Master Series.
