One of Nukleuz' more recent releases is 'Follow Me Away' from the lovely Jobabe. Pierre Pienaar has been brought in to remix this on both sides of the vinyl with remixes udner his own name and also his P.H.A.T.T. alias...
:: Jobabe - Follow Me Away :: Nukleuz Green :: PNUK0742
A: Follow Me Away (Pierre Pienaar Remix) After this track has kicked off and got into the swing of things, you notice the simple and friendly chord changes, the soft, rounded bass and rigid 'standard form' of track structure. All of these features gives the track a very clubby feel, but I think it just avoids falling into the 'cheese' category. There is a vocal element - soft, smooth and simple vocals with an ethnic lean are sung mainly over the calming breakdown. It's not overly vocal, which is good, and these soon give way to arpeggiated riffs played by full bodied trancey synths to match those chord changes. It all fits together very well and exudes a positive and uplifting sound, albeit on the commercial side of things.
B: Follow Me Away (P.H.A.T.T. Remix) This remix is much tougher - something you'd obviously expect from a P.H.A.T.T. remix. The beats are punchy and near the start there's what's almost an acidic synthline spicing things up early on. The same trancey arpeggiated riffs come into play early on, but this time they're powered by a similar but more energetic synth. After the vocally driven, pad filled breakdown, the track picks right up where it left off and pushes out some more of those power-riffs before it comes to an end.
Conclusion:
A quite commercial piece of trance for this Nukleuz Green release. It just about avoids the 'cheese' label, and does well in sounding strong, uplifting, and generally nice. P.H.A.T.T. fans will most likely pick this one up to sample the softer side of his remix productions.
