Existence records bring us their latest offering from C-Jay, a man on the house scene who has been making a very good name for himself with his productions so far. Here’s his latest offering.
Progressive is a genre that gets sneered at by many for being boring and repetitive but it’s a style that keeps producing very good records. C-Jay is a very young and talented artist from the Netherlands looking to make a name for himself on the scene. He’s already impressed the likes of Fred Numf and many others with his music and its time for him to impress me.
:: Release Date: 18th May
Original Mix
Hand on heart I’ve not heard a single production by this artist before this one so you never know what to expect. The start of this track is simple and steady. Bring in a good beat and then start to layer up the sounds. The record slips into a nice progressive backing sound with nice little patterns to give it a good flow. In and out comes a flowing backing noise until the track fades away and that’s all that’s left. The effects to bring it to an almost relaxing state and then back into the progressive beat are very impressive. A deep riff pounds away with the beat and kicks to really add some atmosphere into the track with a sense of depth. I’m impressed by this record; it’s produced superbly and really relaxes with its deep tones and soothing sounds flashing in and out. No big melodies or breaks but a soothing progressive monster.
Leron & Yves Eaux Remix
Another product of the Netherlands is on remix duties here. What can they add to an already excellent record? The structure of the track follows the same course as the original in terms of build up, break and back to the main track. The difference here is the sound has changed. The deep backing relaxing flow is there to be heard and the break takes you into a chilled state as the original does. The pattern on the build creeps in with a stutter and echo’s into the distance like a ripple in water. There’s lots of fades in and out with good use of woody sounding strings similar to the banging of the bongos. I would say this is not as strong as the original but a nice alternative flavour for your ears to enjoy.
Conclusion:
Existence Records impress yet again with a very fine progressive house record by certainly a name to keep an eye out for in the future. I’m sure if you’re a progressive fan you will be very interested in hearing this one as I’m impressed by it. As house goes it well produced, put together well and the overall sound is one to really have in the background on those hot summer days in the back garden enjoying the sun. Good work and one worthy of having a listen to.
