Picking up where the original release left off, here we have a few more tribally remixes of 'Electro Fun' from Digital Poison and Matt Correa...
Abel Ramos - Electro Fun (The Remixes) :: Reset Special :: RSSP004
A: Electro Fun (Digital Poison Remix) Digital Poison's remix of 'Electro Fun' remains quite true to the original. The beat is a bit fatter and you can hears lots of new little electronic sounding sfx right from the start which give this track a new edge. The very prominent rhythmic lead hook is present for most of the track. This and the inclusion of some soft and deep toms in the background give a more tribal style and feel than before. After the breakdown though, once the tribal house style seems firmly established, things take an interesting turn. There's a sudden influx of electronic sounding sfx and an electro sounding synth also adds to the rhythm of the leading hookline. The resulting sound is very different, something which, if you had to describe it or give it a name, would come under some kind of electro-tribe house. Digital Poison have definitely succeeded in applying their own personal touch to this track.
AA: Electro Fun (Matt Correa Remix) The remix by Matt Correa is much more subtle. The sound is a whole load less tribal, and more along the lines of tech house. The beat that Matt has applied is really really solid - the whole lot, the simple, defined and crisp percussion along with a totally solid beat (plus a few other miscellaneous taps in the background) really stands out and defines the track. Again the rhythmic lead takes an early and highly prominent role and then continues to feature throughout the entire track. There isn't much change after the breakdown, which is kind of disappointing, but this remix still retains itself due to the sheer solidarity of that beat and percussive combination. It's simple, but quite addictive.
Conclusion:
All in all, this vinyl broadens the whole 'Electro Fun' spectrum. Especially worth checking out if you don't have the two originally released mixes.
