For the debut release in this series Fabric resident Craig Richards takes the honour to do a mix on CD1.
With Andy Toth’s Jovian Zoology as opener Richards sets the tone with vague, cool pitched sounds. The next track, Sweet.NCandy’s Mail is a more laidback minimal tune which not has any surprises at all actually, this is also the case at the 3rd track of Crane AK.
Then Ryan Crosson’s Artists Have Bad Haircuts comes in and brings back the cool sounds that I missed in the past 2 tracks. From here the tracks are all just original, cross-over minimal meets electro tunes. Some further highlights on this cd are T. Raumschmiere’s Knisterpop, a filthy bassline filled track and Lauderbach’s Grace, which includes some fat FX and sounds which just make you mad.
And if all vagueness wasn’t enough Craig ends with the coolest track of the whole mix: Matt John’s Jokebox. This is a track with one of the most weird vocal use I ever heard and just has a very original feel.
The whole mix is mixed flawless by Craig what just makes it 1 big cool trip (decide for yourself in which meaning of the word).

On the other CD Transparent Sound, who are Orson Bramley and Martin Brown, did a ‘live studio mix’ containing their own productions.
The first track is Secrets Of The Sane which kicks in with some nicely done percussion and cool synthesizer work which creates a very nice atmosphere. With Voyeur’s Chance the 2 guys serve a more chilled track that isn’t really that interesting. The 3rd track, Hell Bent, is a same sort of track. The line stops at the 5th track called Sucking Lemons which has a great dark bassline and is surrounded by nice mysterious sounds.
Then the title track The Two Headed Monster enters the arena and calls back the same sort of atmosphere what the first track, Secrets Of The Sane, also had, but now with even more excitement. Great job on this one. The 7th track, Spot The Difference, is an electro tune with a dark feel and cool drive. Proper Techno follows this sound and energizes it with some big synths. Then Orson and Martin bring back a more minimal tune called Vintage which contains grinding basslines and interesting synthesizer work. The final track, Variations Of An Attitude, starts off with a high sound and is followed by a real 80’s synth. And with these extraordinairy and original sounds this well mixed ‘live studio mix’ comes to an end.

Conclusion:Two innovative mixes on this double cd where especially Transparent Sound did a very good job with their live studio mix. Good stuff!
