After a couple of months’ break, London’s dopest disco merchants return to JAMM for a monster twelve hours of midsummer madness.
This mini-festival of future house, sun-kissed electronic beats and nastyass dance music features some fresh new faces from the European underground, hotly tipped stars of tomorrow and Nodisko’s all-time favourite party-rockers. We’ll also be taking over JAMM’s 100-capacity patio area and turning it into a beautiful summer outdoor terrace where revellers can soak up the sun and, as the night draws on, catch a breather from it all. We’re throwing a COMPLETELY FREE barbecue before midnight and, for the last couple of hours, bringing things back outdoors for those who just refuse to budge.

MORE ON TONIGHT’S GUESTS/DJS… iPUNX Not much is known about this German act, but over the last twelve months they’ve released some truly genre-bending house meets punk meets electro meets pop bootlegs on which they dared to throw together The Hives and 2 Live Crew and made rabble-rousing dancefloor fodder of Metallica. They’re been hailed, rightly, as the next 2Many DJs, and as well as smashing it in Berlin with their exhilarating live shows (performing in motorcycle helmets with live drums, bass and nuff sample trickery; check www.ipunx.com for live footage of the balaclava boys in action) they’ve also been to the top of Germany’s Hype chart. And the rockin’ ravers are making their live UK debut tonight. MAX SEDGLEY & THE SHOOTS There are as-yet-undiscovered tribes deep in the African rainforests who have heard of ‘Happy’: such was its all-encompassing, smile-inducing power when released to mass adoration a couple of summers ago by the ever-glorious Sunday Best. Since that time, Max has been working on his debut album for the label and building up a rep on the live circuit. With that album, the very lovely indeed ‘From The Roots To The Shoots’, ready to drop on July 17, Max Sedgley & The Shoots (his full five-piece band) celebrate its launch down our disko with a full early-evening live show. The single, ‘Slowly’, is released on June 19. TRANSPARENT SOUND One of the UK’s most respected and consistently innovative electronic dance acts, TS are releasing a brand new double-CD mix album ’The Two Headed Monster’ (alongside Fabric resident Craig Richards) on their Orson Records imprint on July 10. A dazzling set of electro-influenced techno, four-four, acid, tech-house and glitchy, minimal beats, it’s the sound of the duo at the top of their game and is already getting massive props from DJs, club promoters, press and public alike. Tonight’s the official London leg of their Europe-wide album tour. GUGLIELMO MASCIO DJ, producer, music collector and dog lover, for the past five years Guglielmo has been the main man behind Rome’s Nu Funk Klan parties, playing alongside the world’s greatest DJs: Harvey, Dirt Crew, M.A.N.D.Y., Pigna People, Peace Division, Bjørn Torske, The Idjut Boys and Claudio Coccoluto, to name but a few. The latter has recently adopted him as something of a protégé and his warm-up DJ of choice, such is his ‘one to watch’ factor in his native Italy. Gu’s fresh take on the Roman Funk sound, which draws on elements from Italo Disco, jackin’ house, techno, New Beat and electro is sexy, jackin’ and unmistakably topped off with la dolce vita. He’s unquestionably one of our favourite DJs at Nodisko, having joined us at Fabric late last year and Zak Frost when he recently headlined Room 2 at Turnmills for Roger Sanchez’ first Release Yourself party of 2006. He is currently working on some new tracks in the studio that will be out later this year. KAISER SOUZAI Kaiser Souzai’s the name of one of the most powerful men of the underground in the movie classic ‘The Usual Suspects’. Markus Binapfl and Patrick Buck, however, are neither gangsters nor Mafiosi, but their name does carry similar weight around German’s electronic club scene. As well as hosting the Residenza and Danza Electrica parties in their native Hamburg they’ve carved a niche as producers of driving electroheavy house: their white label ‘Flesh’ was a slow-burning hit last year (it got caned at Nodisko) and forthcoming single for Rotor Records ‘Girl’, which samples a very famous song from ‘Pulp Fiction’, is destined to put them on the map in the rest of Europe and beyond. 1GNITION Electro-funk outfit 1gnition were formed when Ali Love met Marcus J. Knight in May of 2003 at London’s sleaziest East End nightspot On The Rocks. A heavy drinking session ensued and they quickly realised they had a lot of mutual interests: drinking, strip clubs, womanising, ‘80s black American soul music and the fuck-you attitude of LA's finest, Mötley Crüe. They’ve released a string of killer singles, from the limited-edition seven ‘Daddy’s Girl’ to recent high-profile hits ‘Airtight’ and ‘Planet 69’ (backed by a Williams remix), which have become dirty disco anthems at all manner of discerning clubs. With forthcoming terrace anthem ‘Secret Sunday Lover’ due on Adrift later this summer, the boys return to Nodisko for an anything-goes party set in Room 2 featuring Ali Love on live vocal duty. Nasty Nasty! TOBY TOBIAS Toby Tobias is another old favourite of ours: his numerous disco and rock re-edits have become stone-cold Nodisko classics, and he held a semiresidency with us at Woody’s late last year. As a DJ and producer he’s really come into his own in 2006: after releasing the ‘Silver Tongue EP’ on Hi-Phen in late 2005 he started up the Late Night Audio parties in London with Danny Clark; it’s going so well they’re about to launch a production and label venture of the same name. And new track ‘A Close Shave’ is to be the third release on Radioslave’s Rekids label. It’s released on July 17 with a Disco-Tek Miks from none other than Norwegian disco deviant Prins Thomas. A future star in the making, just you wait. ZAK FROST Zak Frost and John Askew have formed a band. Its called Cult 45. A decade ago Zak & John were teenagers running huge free parties together in the hills of the English countryside; since then their musical careers have taken different paths. John has gone on to become a highly respected techno/trance producer/DJ and Head of A&R at Discover Records; Zak has been a leading figure in the world of alternative house with his cult London club Nodisko. Having remained close friends throughout they have now found that their musical paths have gone full circle and met in exactly the same place - so the time has come for Cult 45. A bastard fusion of electronic disco, minimal techno, acid and future house, Cult 45’s productions are equally at home at a vast techno rave in a Brazilian rainforest as they are in a seedy Berlin basement disco club or an glammed-up Italian beach party. John and Zak have drawn inspiration from their many strange and wonderful experiences whilst behind the decks over the last decade and combined them with their shared love of seriously heavy metal, Labradors and experimentation with mind-bending drugs. Look out for their debut release ‘Radio’ released through Dirt Crew Recordings in September with a massive remix from Dirt Crew themselves. A debut album will follow in the New Year.
