Subtraxx delivers yet more cool and chilled out trance in the way that they know best. Sami S is responsible for remix duties...
:: Corydalics - Along Overmind :: Subtraxx :: SXXDD019
1) Along Overmind (Original Mix) 'Along Overmind' features very easy going, meandering bass, light percussion and most notably lots of smooth and sweet pulses of entrancing synths and pads. These come into their own during the staggeringly beautiful breakdown. The synths have been perfected and totally hit the spot when it comes to chilled, smooth and swirling ambience. A nicely reverbed guitar takes the melodic lead and really sets the mood. This is properly emphasised when the bass kicks back in - those soft bass notes along with the guitar make for the perfect blend you want when it comes to chilled out trance. Another thing that Corydalics have done in the production, is to include a healthy sprinkling of sfx across the track, these have a stark, electric sound which contrasts wickedly with the rest of the smooth soundscape. A top production!
2) Along Overmind (Sami S Remix) Sami S provides a more upbeat remix of 'Along Overmind'. The synths are still there, lining the track with their sweetness, and the guitar is also doing another stellar melodic job. There is a deeper and more active bassline which helps to give the track a groovy vibe, bringing it to life a bit more. there are also some relatively coarse bass synth notes to help bring the bassy elements of the track to the foreground, giving it more depth and adding a little more power to the overall sound. After the breakdown, there's a huge contrast. We hear stabbed, rhythmic synths and jittery backing pads instead of the smooth ambience. This change is a great twist to the progression of the track and things are topped of wonderfully when the guitar comes back and is overlaid across the new powerful synths. One final twist to this tale is the introduction of a new, synthy melodic lead which plays some arpeggiated riffs to finish off this pretty stunning remix.
Conclusion:
Yet another fine release from the Subtraxx Collective and another demonstration of top quality chilled trance. Sami S does wonders with his remix which steers away from the progressive and more towards tougher, energetic sounds. Wicked!
