More tracks coming from the direction of UK based trance label FiveAM Records. Here we see a two track EP from Lost In Gravity, a new alias from trance newcomer and rising star Edin Bosnjak. Expect something techy and driving this time round...
:: Lost In Gravity - Hide & Seek / Interrupted Silence :: Five AM :: FAM049
A: Hide & Seek 'Hide & Seek' presents itself quickly as a moody, techy and almost dark piece of trance. It has a solid beat which carries the track well and a decent set of simple, yet noticeable and rhythmic percussion. The breakdown sees the introduction of the track's only real 'lead' part. It sounds more like highly controlled SFX than a leading synth role. A very 'blippy' and 'bleepy' (watch out for those technical terms there!) instrument plays out a light and jittery hook which dances over the techy undertones of the rest of the production. Not a bad track by any means, but some might find it a little too uneventful.
B: Interrupted Silence 'Interrupted Silence' is a very interesting track with several intriguing elements. Right from the start, the beat is accompanied by some almost old skool sounding chords and a calm and relaxing acoustic guitar too. This mellow and chilled vibe is changed eventually though into something more driving and severe - stabbed synth notes drive their way into the foreground and these pick things up and take the track up a few levels, which works well. Further techiness and a sense of driving power is achieved by the use of off beat snares, which I particularly enjoy, especially when used correctly, as they are here. There is also a creative use of SFX which are interspersed into the track from the breakdown onwards. These are weird sounds which seem almost random. You pick up on them straight away but they soon blend in and become part of the track. Overall, a truly bizarre, but very nice, blend of rather differing elements which demonstrates yet another quality side of tech trance.
Conclusion:
A very worthy release, especially for 'Interrupted Silence' with its blend of techy beats and peculiar combination of leads.
