Check out trance giant 4 Strings' latest track. Entitled 'Jewel', and coming in Original and Deep remixes, this one is out now...
:: 4 Strings - Jewel :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ060
A: Jewel (Original Mix) I keep on mentioning in my 4 Strings coverage that the tunes have very recently gained a much more honed and full bodied sound. This trend is continued and the results are what could be 4 Strings' best track to date. The beats are rock solid, the percussion is well defined and very clear and promiscuous. The full-bodiedness comes from the deep, grinding rolling bass which command the track and really drives things at an energetic pace. The breakdowns are where we initially hear the distinct, 4 Strings style melodies, played out by the trademark clean and clear synths. Dreamy, beautiful, trancey and oh so summery. The build ups are reminiscent of classic trance and when the track drops it is pretty much immense. The feeling it gives off would be totally awesome in any club environment. A sure fire winner for the summer, I'm really loving this one right now!
AA: Jewel (Deep Mix) The Deep Mix of 'Jewel' really lives up to its name! The beats are strong and heavy while the percussion is really nice and techy in nature. Eventually, the track is engulfed by ambient sfx, deep, long, pulsing synths and gritty, rolling bass. This quite comprehensively creates a very deep, moody and yet driving atmosphere. The only time we hear the 'Jewel' melody is during the long, pad driven breakdowns. During the main, beaty sections, there are shrill, ghostly synths which fill the part of a lead hook/melody. This track has a great balance between tough techy passages and calm trancey passages. I can see this one having great effects on the dancefloors when those hands in the air breakdowns switch to the tough techy beats of the main sections. Wicked stuff!
Conclusion:
A real winner for 4 Strings, this one. Both tracks are excellent. Play the Original Mix if you want full bodied summery trance or play the Deep Mix to surprise those tougher, tech hungry crowds.
