Here comes another progressive masterpiece from the label of Existence Records with a brand new release from Tim Davison. Already known for promoting excellent house music is this another one to add to their very impressive previous releases?
:: Original Mix :: Mikel Curcios Remix
:: OUT NOW
Let’s get started with the original mix. I’m not all that familiar with Tim’s work but he starts things off here with a nice comfy bass line introducing a Skippy sound to the track and using nice breaks to split this up. There are waves sliding in and out with nice use of background echo filter claps adding depth to the build. It’s a nice start to what seems to be a very well produced house record. After maybe the third or fourth break the Skippy nature is still there but there is a change in the bassline. Sounds filter out as the track breaks into just a few low end backing sounds and the soft bass that has been filtering in throughout the track is let free to flow. The sounds fade in and out until a quite handy break slips in before the beat come pounding back in. It’s nicely worked this track with a nice progression to what is the main sound of it. As progressive house goes Tim’s work here is a good example of why it’s so popular.
Mikel Curciou’s is one of the new talents in the dance scene to keep an eye out for. Born in Canada and started out spinning in clubs in Toronto he is making a name for himself now as a producer and remixer. What can he offer to Tim Davidson’s record? It’s a different tempo to the original and a more chord changing styled flow in the record. The start of the mix feeds in a dubbed out beat and layers up the sounds before the full beat kicks in with a complimentary kick to give it a bit of oomph! The hook on this is nice, deep and electronic sounding like an electric piano playing underwater. The basic fundamental rhythm from the original is here to see but disguised as a deeper more low bass sounding tone playing with the symbols in the back and adding sounds as it goes along. There’s no real breakdown on this just a faded out beat with a rather intriguing sound flickering in during it. Good flow and a steady build make this good progressive affair setting a different tone from the original mix
Conclusion:
In my humble opinion you have two very relaxing and well produced progressive house records here. Tim’s original with a more orthodox house sound and a deeper sounding, in a more electronic way, remix from one new producer’s in the genre. It’s yet another fine release on Existence Records who add another very fine pair of records to there catalogue. One for progressive fans this one, get checking it out.
