The Toolroom label is on fire and presents it's newest release: Paul Harris- Find Yourself A Friend. Read on to check out what it's like.
Paul Harris, who is also a member of the popular English formation Dirty Vegas, releases a vocal houser on the Toolroom label. Time to check out the mixes on the vinyl.
A1: Paul Harris- Find Yourself A Friend (Seamus Haji Big Love Remix)
The popular Seamus Haji fills the A-Side with a nice feel-good housy mix. Seamus starts the track with some straight no-nonsense sound using 'normal' housy beats supported by short bassline stabs and some high synth notes. Furthermore the track actually lays all the attention on the female vocals, which are performed nicely. Some decent pads fill up the gaps and that makes the track a decent vocal houser, but still not very exciting.
A2: Paul Harris- Find Yourself A Friend (Seamus Haji Big Love Dub)
The Dub has a same sort of sound as the Big Love Remix, only without the big attention on the vocals which nearly appear in this dub. And without the vocals the track doesn't have any magic at all. If Seamus Haji addes more elements to dub track it maybe worked out well.
B1: Paul Harris- Find Yourself A Friend (Original Mix)
Paul Harris' own mix is on the B-side and also Paul lays the most attention on the vocals in this mix. Starting off with some firm beats it seems like Harris' is taking it some rougher then Seamus Haji, but the track actually falls in a same sort of sound which Seamus Haji also used, only with just a little more variation (but still not enough in my opinion).
B2: Paul Harris- Find Yourself A Friend (Mark Knight Dub)
Toolroom boss Mark Knight presents his version on the B2. Mark also uses a laidback housy groove in his mix, but creates a way very nice atmosphere with his use of the sounds. Mark makes constant use of the mysterious sound pad and makes use of the vocal on the right moments. Great production skills here from Mark Knight who makes this track a very good option to build up a set with.
Conclusion:
Find Yourself A Friend profiles itself as a laidback house release specially made for the Ibiza shores. I'm sure it will has success there because of the atmosphere in all mixes, especially in the one of Mark Knight.
