 A: Forbidden Ways (Original Mix)
The Original Mix of 'Forbidden Ways' is a deep, subtle and ambient affair. Right from the start it fills itself out with soft and deep chords, chunky progressive beats and ambient synths playing soft notes and a repeating hookline. The track doesn't give out much energy, even after the breakdown where a new, much (relatively) stronger melody is introduced. The sound always keeps its deep and plodding feel, mainly due to the bass notes which repeat in the background. This isn't in Yakuza's usual style and you wouldn't expect it on the A-side of a vinyl. One for the progressive fans out there.

AA: Forbidden Ways (George Hales Remix)
George Hales has picked this track up and really turned it around! The beats are way stronger and nicely punchy. The bass is active and alive and there are lots of psy-influenced sfx going on to keep the soundscape alive and the atmosphere electric. You're coaxed slowly and gently towards the track's first breakdown which is gentle and easy going and serves to amplify the psy influences you can hear in the track when the beat kicks back in. Even now this is a track which is great to listen to because it sounds good and the entire concept it's demonstrating is totally absorbing. Soon you hit the track's main breakdown and with the help of some soaringly awesome string work, a new main melody is brought into the blend. It gives out great power and energy after the ambient section and is therefore even more strongly accepted. When the track drops back in, you've made the transition from half psy, half trance to full on pounding trance. Hands in the air and dancefloors stomping all the way home from here!

Conclusion:A little bit of a disappointing A-side on this record, but George Hales puts in a stompingly awesome remix on the flip which is simply a must have!
