The new Supermode got a release on the Spinnin' label with some excellent remixes of Simmons & Christopher. Read on to check it out!
Supermode is a collab between the 2 popular Swedish producers Axwell and Steve Angello. With Tell Me Why they bring an updated version of Bronski Beat's 'Smalltown Boy' , which was a huge hit in 1984. Simmons and Christopher are responsible for the remix.
A1) Supermode- Tell Me Why (Original Mix)
The track starts off with some nice synths and the undeniable riff from the original Bronski Beat track. Although very much sounds of today are used, it all goes together very well with the unique sound of the old 'Smalltown Boy' track. Together with the short 'Tell Me Why' vocal hook the track is making you feel like Bronski Beat is just here again to stay. Well, not exactly..it are the 2 Swedish guys who call themselves part of the Swedish House Mafia who do an amazing job here by creating an 80's flow which they combine with the modern house sound of today.
B1) Supermode- Tell Me Why (Simmons & Christopher Remix)
Mark Simmons and Dennis Christopher seemed to had the urge to make Tell Me Why more suitable for the clubs and so they did. The track starts with more power and makes use of a short electric guitar hook which is used to build up. Then the sound of the original mix comes in, quickly supported by some breakbeat. After this short piece of breakbeat the track breaks loose as an amazing drive takes it all over. A new fat bassline, some good use of the 'Smalltown Boy' riff and the powerful beats should really impress the crowd.
B2) Supermode- Tell Me Why (Simmons & Christopher Instrumental Remix)
This is the same version, but without the use of the 'Tell Me Why' vocal hook.
Conclusion:
Supermode did a great job on making a new version of the old Bronski Beat track. But although the original is very nice, it misses some dancefloor power. Simmons & Christopher now made it also very suitable for the dancefloors thanks to it's amazing drive.
