Kick your deckchair back a few notches and relax your self for a smooth ride of quality house brought to you by Satoshi Tomiie’s Glow. Its out now on SAW Recordings. Read on for the full juice from this one.
:: Original Mix :: Spirit Catcher Remix
Satoshi Tomiie may well be a name not all that well known by followers of dance music but within house circles this guy is one that stands in the middle. What’s the story with this latest release? It’s out now on SAW and was compiled onto Renasiance’s 3D album released a few weeks back. For those who like their progressive house get tucking in.
The original mix is a deep beat progressive affair which starts in the traditional of the simple 4/4 beat. The build adds things bit by bit and introducers a rolling groove hidden in the depths of the track which change tone with the record. The 4/4 gets sprinkled with chunky electronic rushes and a few firm slaps to give the beat a deeper thump. The electronic elements feed in and out but the back beat is always there keeping the flow going. There is a funky element to this progressive affair and sounds that remind me of the early knob twisting jocks of the early house scene. A nice little section of the record feeds in what sounds like a filtered guitar effect string. The beat on this one is good, deep, chucky and hard. Steady breaks in the track bringing in different elements.
Spirit Catcher remix is the supporting mix on this release and it’s got a good foundation to build on. This mix brings in a more electro sound and has a bit more tempo to it. The build on the mix is very much the same form as the original with a good solid beat and rolling background atmosphere. Then it takes a turn in a different direction to the chunky progressive original by bringing in a pitched up electro sound complimented by deep chugging electronic rhythms. The sound is fresh, funky and hooks you into the track with an inviting electro glare. The beat is there rolling along in the back and the main melody from the original floats in and out amongst the new sounds put forward in the mix.
Conclusion:
This Japanese’s buzz saw features high on just about every manor DJ listing you can find. SAW Recordings are onto a winner with this one in my opinion. Uplifting fans will not like it but progressive house followers will find both the mixes on this release very welcome indeed. My favour is to the Spirit Catcher remix as it’s just got that edge to it and a more inviting sound to my ears. The original is a good piece of house and a record that can only improve Satoshi Tomiie’s reputation in the house market.
