Sied van Riel has popped up to provide 2 remixes of the Corydalics' most recent release on Subtraxx, the cool, calm and chilled 'Along Overmind'...

:: Corydalics - Along Overmind (SvR Remixes)
:: Subtraxx
:: SXXDD019

1) Along Overmind (Sied Van Riel Remix)

These remixes are both more upbeat than the previous ones. Here, it is still only playing along at a general proggy pace but the beats are sharp, the percussion tight and rhythmic and the progression slow but sure, meaningful and deliberate. Slowly, just as the initial section of the track blends into the breakdown, a synthed up acoustic guitar kind of sound kind of overflows from itself into a simple and dreamy melody. This intertwines with backing pads, chord changes and a more jittery instrument, which plucks deeper notes in, out and inbetween the guitar-like melody. As I said before, it's more upbeat than the first mixes, but it retains that calm and dreamy essence which made the first mixes sound so cool.

2) Along Overmind (Sied Van Riel's Diet Coke On The Rocks Mix)
This strangely titled remix features a more rolling type of bassline, but this new drive is countered by ghostly synths, fx and pads which add an air of mysteriousness and intrigue to the calming, mellow beats. This track is also melody driven a pretty synthy lead instrument is brought in via the breakdown and it plays a variety of trancey patterns. It is backed up and enhanced by what can only be described as melodic 'water droplets'. High pitched, heavily echoed and reverbed sounds, drip and drop in the right places to really optimise the melodic elements here.

Conclusion:
Overall, another 2 quality remixes to be tucked into this release from Subtraxx. Definitely for the majority of progressive music lovers, but this one shouldn't be overlooked for those into mellow melodic trance also.
