Next up is a pair of very trancey stuff from Maelstrom - remixes of Parker & Hanson's 'Let Me Be' from Mike Koglin and Karl G. Monstrous or mediocre...?
:: Parker & hanson - Let Me Be :: Maelstrom :: MAELT045X
1) Let Me Be (Mike Koglin Remix) Mike Koglin's remix of 'Let Me Be' has deep and smooth essences. The easy going bass is complimented by the soft and rounded kicks and the initial stages of the track are driven mainly by backing ambience and percussive work. The breakdowns feature some rather attractive synthwork and chord progressions, with these soft and uplifting sections making a strong contrast with the deep mindful main sections. The vocal element in this remix isn't anything to shout about really, but it doesn't appear much. A lead synth takes hold in the latter stages of the track and puts out a simple yet commanding melody, making for a pretty decent, above average remix.
2) Let me Be (Karl G Remix) Karl G gets off to a good start on his first official remix duty. The kicks are strong, there is a persistent, driving ring of percussive hi-hats and a very pertinent bass synth which sets out a rock solid rhythm for the rest of the track to follow. As the track grows, a soft and rounded synth teases you with melodic snippets. At this point, I'm reminded a tiny bit of Mike Koglin's 'Silence', but only a really slight amount. The melodic build leads into the breakdown, which sees the vocal take it's turn. Again, not the most amazing vocals, but the track kicks back in soon enough and you're taken on a smooth, trancey journey as some thicker and stronger backing synths fill out the sound with a rich, glowing essence. This tranciness continues until the track begins its wind down.
Conclusion:
Nice remixes, although the vocals may put some people off - make sure you listen to a lot of the track before making a choice. Mike Koglin had a decent deep effort, but Karl G's remix proved stronger and richer, with nicer, trancier sounds.
