Here comes the brand new single by Armin van Buuren. A record not featured on his Shivers album but one that you should definitely hear. Why? Read on and find out.
This record has been doing the rounds on the DJ circuit and no doubt been tried and tested by Armin in his live sets. Somehow it’s missed my attention until now. You always want to check out the new releases by the big names and they don’t come any bigger in Trance circles than Armin.
A1: Vocal Mix B1: Instrumental Mix
Armin fans can sit back and listen to this with great pleasure as it sure not to disappoint. The soft pounding beat starts off this record and the layers of sound build and build until a trancey riff starts to fade in from the background and makes its presence know. The beat cuts back and in comes a dreamy instrument sounding melody with a wet glockenspiel sound to them. Armin has never been afraid to use a male voice for the vocal duties in his tracks and here we see no different. The vocals in this one tell a story from start to end with the start sliding in just as the glockenspiel sounding strings fade out. The background builds until the vocals echo out and the beat comes back in. when the beat does come back its building towards the next insertion of the story told by the vocals. The hook on here really is made by the way the vocals align with the flow of the record. They fade in while the track fades out into a break. On the fourth break the main climax of the track comes into force, everything stops with the vocal sliding in and sound sliding out until it finally builds back into the beat.
Male vocals can sometimes sound very odd in tracks but I think they work rather well in this one, adding to the breakdown on the record and of course something to sing along to in one of those hands in the air moments. If vocals are not your bag however good or bad they are the Instrumental mix on the back is a carbon copy of the vocals mix but not a vocal to be heard. Both mix’s works very well and what we have here is a good progressive styled trance record than just seems to be always building to something.
Conclusion:
Top marks for Armin on releasing yet another quality Trance record that will no doubt be getting some serious hammer in the next few weeks as DJ’s pick it up. Another one to add to the collection in my opinion but I’m sure this will be to many people’s taste. It should be out now in all good record shops!
