Here are the remixes for Cosmic Gate’s new record doing the rounds at the moment Should’ve Known. Estuera and DJ Delicious sprinkle their production magic over a very strong original release from the German artist.
A1: Estuera’s Inside Info Remix B1: DJ Delicious Remix
Remixes either make a good record better or a good record worse. This particular track from the Cosmic gate boys is sure t be on their forthcoming artist album to be released this month. What do these mixes add to a fairly strong original record? Lets have a dig and found out.
Estuera is a name fairly new on the dance scene and one of the new names in the world of trance, relatively speaking of course. The man behind the name is none other than the mighty Jonas Steur!
The track starts off wit a fairly hefty back beat complimented by a high pitched kick. On the build there’s a sprinkle of what sounds to me like an India style sound sprinkling in and out. The tracks beats on and in comes a bass riff that reminds me the old sound trance had a few years ago and one you would find in an old Tiesto set. It’s right in your face and provides a good riff to whisper along to. The female vocal in here starts from the build up just after the bass riff has kicked it and remains until the break in the track. Sneaking in is another melody which makes the main part of the hook in the track. The two layer on top of each other with the vocal providing the backing sound as the layers get louder and hit a peak. Dare I say the bass riff in this with the beat and kick give it an almost funky edge. This is a decent remix from Jonas and worthy of the Estuera name.
Who on earth is DJ Delicious? Not many people will be familiar wtih the name but he did work with Till West on the very successful ‘Same Man’ record. You can expect a house vibe flowing from the needle on this record. That is essentially what this record is a house version. The beat is deep and the riff is pitched down with the wet sounding water rippled trickily melody flowing in the background. This mix builds and builds. When it first breaks it comes back louder with the riff going through becoming ever more in the foreground. The track winds itself down and the beat gets cut out. The riff starts to feed in and slowly but steadily the beat comes back into the foreground getting louder and louder until it explodes into a house techy riff edge orgy of electronics sounds. For those who like their house with a catchy riff and a few pauses for breathe then you will like this as it’s a good rework of the original record with it given a bit of house treatment.
Conclusion:
Two very different styles of remixes but both using the sounds from the original to redistributing them as individuals. House jocks will certainly have a look at DJ Delicious mix but fans of eh vocal touched uplifting style of trance will go for Estuera’s mix. They don’t really set the ground alight but very much worth a listen.
