Fred Baker and Greg Nash go head to head again to produce this double track EP featuring 'Lunar Eclipse' and 'Solar Eclipse'...
:: Fred Baker Vs. Greg Nash – Eclipse EP :: 2Play :: 2PLAY016
A: Lunar Eclipse 'Lunar Eclipse' kicks of with a very tribal feel. Big kicks and really quite driving percussion are broken up by little sfx tweaks and cool little tom tom roll interludes (which would sound ace whilst this track is being mixed in from another!). First impressions can be deceiving though, because this growing monster transforms as its bassline is added - a deep, driving pulsing sound which is a kind of crossover of hard house and techno. The fact is though, is that it has awesome drive and instantly boosts this track into life. The tribal essence is kept alive with the use of tiny vocal snippets and the techy part remains due to some stabs of a synthy sounding instrument. The breakdown is initially cool and ambient with some fantastic soft synth pads and mood calming chillout rhythms. Things soon spice up as an intense climax begins. Once the enormous build is release, you're subjected to some absolutely FILTHY bass which grinds away and drives forward with power and dominance. It is soon joined by that previous rolling bassline and the tribal percussion and the result is a wicked sound which will ignite floors with its power, drive and infectious rhythm.
AA: Solar Eclipse 'Solar Eclipse' is a very different track, taking on a more classic hard trance sound. It features some immensely pounding kicks which are enough on their own to drive a dance floor. A chilling synth noise grows from the depths of the track and eventually evolves into a sinister, stabbing rhythm. This is accompanied by some more shrill synths, playing eerie melodies in the background. The breakdown structure is similar to its predecessor, with calm ambience being taken over by a growing climax. The drop involves the track erupting into a blast of powerful synth led hard trance. This one will work on the right floors, but might prove a bit too over powering for some.
