Sharam, who forms the impopular act Deep Dish with his mate Dubfire, appears on the Spinnin' label with his new release: 'Party All The Time'. Let's check out what he's up to.
Covers are hot at the moment and as a very busy dj Sharam knows that very well. So that's probably one of the reasons why Sharam got his hands on Eddie Murphy's it from the 80's 'Party All The Time' (yes, besides comedian, cop, professor and African prince Eddie is also a singer!). Philippe B and Romain Curtis did the remix on the b-side.
A1: Sharam- P.A.T.T (Club Mix)
Sharam is known of his groovy, not too difficult house tracks which always seem to work on the dancefloor. 'Party All The Time' is also that kind of track. It starts off with a dry kick followed by a cool old-school bassline and some vocoded vocal cuts. Then Eddie's vocals come in and is supported by a vintage synth with an easy line. Several climaxes are built while the vocal line is still repeating. Although it sounds very good and surely will work on the dancefloor it will bore after some minutes. As a conclusion I say Sharam succeeded very well in making a 'feel good' track for the floors, but if you look to the arrangement he could have been far more creative.
B1: Sharam- P.A.T.T (Philippe B & Romain Curtis Mix)
Phillipe B & Romain Curtis start directly with the old-school bassline and some extra claps attached to the original kick and hat. Then new basslines are introduced which make the track more 'dirty'. This combined with repeating short cuts of the vocal line makes it sound really cool. A break comes in and is being used to bring the full vocal line of Murphy in the track. This has been done in the same way as in the original mix, but instead of constantly repeating now it has been cut off and the dirty basslines have been brought back in the middle. After that the vocal line comes in again and builds up to another climax. Although the track is long (10 minutes and 30 seconds) Philippe and Romain made track far more surprising as Sharam did.
Conclusion:
P.A.T.T is definetly another house hit from Sharam. But if you ask me Philippe B & Romain Curtis are the guys who are responsible for this. Sharam had a good idea about using Eddie Murphy's vocals and made a very nice track, but Philippe and Romain made it even better. Class work.
