New kid on the block Casey Keyworth from the USA gets things going at the moment with his debut EP on Ferry Corsten's very own label. Featured on this disc are two quality tracks, seamlessly fitting in to the Flashover sound...
This is actually Casey's first release. He has been producing for quite a while now, with his tracks now being picked up by Ferry Corsten. Recently, he has remixed 'Ordinary Moments' by Filo & Peri, which currently resides in Ferry's top 5 as well.
A-side: The Air Between Let's just start off by saying this is definitely not your usual material. It ís trance, yet it incorporates elements from a variety of styles to create an amazingly structured beast of a tune. The cleverness just shines out of this production. Thick, thumping percussion, wicked atmospheric melodies and monstruous amounts of pulsating rough basslines are the main ingredients here, altogether engendering a very special feel throughout the build. Melody-wise, this tune has alot to offer as well: a delicate, pretty little rhythm suddenly appears during the breakdown, somehow fitting in flawlessly with the rest of the track. The coarse, electro-ish basslines are really the cherry on the cake, as they bring forth a truly authentic sound combined with all the bright melodic interludes. A top class tune which is not to be missed! Rating: 8,5/10
B-side: River Of Light For the flip, Casey has created a tune that is slightly tougher than its A-side companion. Gleaming out a wicked broken beat, electro-ish vibe throughout its first parts, it constantly teases you with continuously building arrays of rapid, dark synth of which the sound definitely adds up to the darker, more eerie atmosphere. Tough drums and a really deep, almost unnoticable bassline take up a leading role afterwards, but the main emphasis still lies with that utterly mysterious, dark melody which shifts its way throughout the track's body without remorse. The way 'River Of Light' has been built up is out of the ordinary as well, going along with the A-side's tradition in a good way. Another remarkable tune which definitely stands out from lots of today's releases. Rating: 8/10
Conclusion:
We've got ourselves quite the remarkable release here. Breakfast takes on the trance scene by storm with these two tracks, especially because they encompass a superbly original sound and structure. Both tunes combine trance with bits of tech and electro, instantly becoming two mighty dancefloor tracks. Two thumbs up!
