The next release on Paul van Dyk’s Vandit label see’s Kuffdam & Plant return with their brand new single The Ones We Loved featuring Dogzilla on remix duties and Terry Ferminal on the vocals.
Releases on Vandit are ones that just have to checked out. You don’t get Paul van Dyk releasing any old garbage on his own independent label now do you? Kuffdam & Plant have already had a few popular records with Summer Dream and the excellent Dream Makers. They are a relatively new face on the Trance scene but already a very established name within the genre. Here’s their latest release.
:: Original Mix :: Dozilla Remix
Release Date: October 18th
Original Mix
Needle down and the record begins. The track kicks off with a deep pounding beat and lots of backing shuffles as a short burst melody beat as I call it comes in from the background to the foreground and filters out. The track builds with a deep bass riff in full flow. Layers on layers start to build up with a tasty sounding symbol shuffle in the background. Bass changes keep the flow going well as the atmosphere in the record starts to gain pace. All the sound cuts out to bring in the first build with the vocals. Male vocals from Terry Ferminal come in, which have been placed very nicely into this track. Male vocals sometimes work and other times don’t in Trance records. The placement of the vocals creates a very catchy and uplifting melody to tap your feet along to. The beat’s break up and stutter in, then cut as the vocals slide in with only background atmospheric noise building. The mix has a very uplifting element which is helped by the subtle bass changes in the track.
Dogzilla Remix
The original is a good piece of trance but this mix for me is the one you would buy the record for. Dogzilla have been excellent with their productions and here is proof their remixes are up to that standard. You could be forgiven you had just started to play Your Eyres as the track begins which what I’d say is a trademark Dogzilla sound splash. The beat is crisp and meaty with a guitar riff in the background as the track starts to add claps and kicks. The guitar sound gets louder and louder then filters out as the vocals slip in. The build up here is excellent with the guitar riff coming into the fore grand then sliding back as the vocals tell the story in the track. The main melody brings in piano keys and riff changes on the guitar sound that work very well together. On the break and sounds change chord, the vocals add that extra element with the sound cutting back on the main meat of them. Male vocals work on here and add that extra hook on the track if the guitar riffs and piano strings were not enough. This really is a cracking mix. Great use of the sounds in the original to create a hook that will keep you coming back for more.
Conclusion:
There are a few records that get your attention more than others every now and then but this is one for me. The original is a good piece of work by Kuffdam & Plant but Dogzila’s remix really puts the icing on it. The style is kept to what you have heard in previous Dogzilla productions, which, is why it works so well on this track, uplifting, energetic and full or original sounds. Overall though its yet another excellent record on the Vandit label and one I’m sure you will hear if you tune into Paul van Dyk’s latest sets. The original is good but for me you have to check out Dogzilla’s remix.
