Erick E is one of the most popular house dj's in Holland. The Beat Is Rockin' is his newest release and there has been released an extra remix vinyl. Let's check this one out.
Erick E's former hit 'Boogie Down' has been a major hit in Holland. With 'The Beat Is Rockin' Erick surely has the same aim and maybe more. Dutch heavy weight house producers Fedde Le Grand and Gregor Salto did the remixes for the 'part 2 vinyl' of this release.
A1) Erick E- The Beat Is Rockin' (Gregor Salto Remix)
Gregor Salto is known for his 'latin' filled house tracks with outstanding percussion. This has been proved in former hits as 'Viajar' (The Mas Que Nada cover) and 'Bouncing Harbour', Gregor's surprising track with some heavy electro influence. Well, this remix does have the same sort of sound like 'Bouncing Harbour'. The track starts with some light percussion and the female vocal. Then the firm beats and heavy percussion follows fast, which must have a heavy impact on the dancefloor. When the break is being introduced a hypnotic synth comes in, supported by rhytmic claps. This break is being cut off by the firm beats and a nice raw bassline which lead the track to an end. Definetly a great track that's suitable for many different kind of dj's because of it's unique fresh sound.
B1) Erick E- The Beat Is Rockin' (Fedde Le Grand Remix)
Because of the major damage what Fedde's hit 'Put Your Hands Up For Detroit' has done the man is surely one of the most popular dj's on the planet at the moment. He has also been asked to remix this new Erick E track and as Fedde is known for his funky approach of tracks he also has done that with this track. A funky drive has already been leading the track from the start and cutted vocals are filling it up instead of a bassline. The full vocals are being used later in the track and give the track a laidback feel. In this same stage of the track short bass sounds come in, but are not really capable to change the track's sound, what surely is necessary as it still sounds very minimal. The track ends this way too and it seems Fedde didn't had any creative ideas about effective synths or basslines this time. Quite a pity, because Fedde's succes is mostly based on these elements in a catchy way.
Conclusion:
2 heavy weight producers on this track, but only 1 heavy weight track. Gregor Salto drops a hot bomb which just has to destroy dancefloors worldwide. Fedde Le Grand did a decent job and created a funky remix which can be suitable for openings by it's laidback feel. But by his recent successes we know Fedde can do better.
