Here we see Kimito Lopez bringing a totally trancey release on the Fundamental imprint. Estuera and Re:Locate go head to head for the remix on the flip...
:: Kimito Lopez - Telepathy :: Fundamental :: FUN525
A: Telepathy (Original Mix) As far as structure goes, 'Telepathy' is quite the standard affair. The track is introduced slowly, adding percussion and a rolling bass to the simple kicks. Small synth elements are blended into the sound as things move along, and soft, warm pads grow from from within the track, filling out its sound and generally trancing everything up a bit. The breakdown sees ambience and the introduction of a melody, whilst the following section capitalises on the new melody, breaking things up slightly with a groovy breakbeat passage, which is excellently executed.
Anyway, the general structure is there, nothing new. But what makes this track is the melody which builds up during the long and beautiful breakdown. The synth itself is quite distinct, with a clear, shrill, tremolo sound. It plays a lonely, distant feeling melody, which is carried by the flowing, silken bassline and beautiful surrounding pads. The breakbeat part deserves another mention, because it comes out of no-where but fits in so perfectly - the flow of the track isn't interrupted at all, it actually enhances it. This final interlude sees the last passage of dreamy melody before we see the end of this quality track.
AA: Telepathy (Estuera vs. Re:Locate Remix) This remix has a very different feel to it. The pace is slower, the general gist is laid back and relaxing. Infact, if you only heard the initial section of this track, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was house. The bassline is deep and soulful, which a slow, funky rhythm. The trance sounds are soon brought in though - a gentle synth playing delicate arpeggios somewhere in the background, sublime pads glazing the track with icey clean sounds and a more distinct lead, sounding like a synthed up electric guitar plucking out solitary notes over the beautiful ambience. Actually, this section is immensely beautiful. The pads seem to become enhanced and give out a soft sound which envelopes you and hugs you. The bass merges with these sounds perfectly harmonically and the perfect bed for the guitar synth is created.
The more you listen to this track, the more you hear and the more it draws you in. The chord changes coming from the pads are amazing and the overall relaxing sensation is second to none. A superb piece of chilled out trance.
Conclusion:
More top stuff from Fundamental. Both sides of this one possess quality tunage, but of differing relaxing natures. Adding to the funkiness, is the pure white vinyl you get to lay on your decks!
