Last year saw the release of 'Finity Essence', a new trance compilation from new Finnish trance label Finity, whose aim was to showcase and release only the best of the Finnish trance scene. Multiple top quality releases later and now Finity have dished out Volume 2 of this most excellent compilation series...

Finity Essence is a double CD compilation series which focuses solely on the Finnish trance scene. The tracks on the CD are the real, full length, unmixed, DJ friendly versions. There's no focus on what big name DJ has mixed this CD, how they have gone about it, or on how they have digitally enhanced it and messed around with the tracks. No. This is all about the music. Finity's music.
Everything about this already awesome series has got better. From the outside, things look more polished - the CD cover itself has had more work put into it this time and features a calm scene with a rather beautiful looking young lady in the middle. Further inside, you find the first CD. CD1 is the progressive outing. This selection of tunes takes you through the deepest sounds and most subtle of melodies. This might be progressive trance, but it's some of the best out there right now. For the most part, the tracks never get boring, instead there's always something to grab you - chord changes, deep and moving melodies or just a lighter, funkier feel in places. Ones to watch out for here are Corydalics - Along Overmind, Life In Streams - Brainwash (Club Mix) and the brilliant Sundawner - Bizarre.
CD moves on into the uplifting territory. Let's face it. There is simply no better way to begin a CD like this with any track other than Syna - Face of God. Listening to it now, this masterpiece is sending shivers down my spine. To me, this is the core of Finity - trance of the utmost quality which pushes the boundaries. CD2 goes on, putting out more and more pristine, uplifting tracks. The energy isn't lost anywhere along the way, be it in playing a powerful trancey riff based track or in an overcoming euphoric type of track. Brilliance to note along the way include tracks such as Winkee - The Island, Miikka Leinonen Pres. Denver Feat. Marcie - End Of Days (In Love), Super8 + P.O.S. Pres. Aalto - 5 and Modulation - White Flame (Miika Kuisma Dub).
Conclusion:
This is an album that must not be missed. It's one of the best that 2006 has to offer. Finity Essence Vol. 2 easily lives up to and surpasses its claim of being the definitive masterpiece of essential Finnish trance music.
