Ten Madison aka Peter Gun aka Peter Jurgen is back with more chilled sounds. This latest installment in Ten Madison's artist album series on Millennium Records boasts 13 of his latest relaxing tunes...
:: Ten Madison - Grounded :: Millennium Records :: MILL136-CD
Tracklisting 01. Hard Stage 02. Humans 03. Trees 04. Silver 05. Cuphorn 06. In The World 07. Leaving Melbourne 08. Eternity 09. Modulations 10. Buzanz 11. Horizon 12. Rhythm & Groove 13. Sands Of Time
The journey started back in 2001 with 'Trip Illusion' and then from there Ten Madison brought out four more artist albums: 'Avenue', 'From Lust To Dust', 'Milk' and 'Trouble In Rio'. Now, the latest album, 'Grounded', is said to go back to how 'Avenue' kicked things off for him on Millennium Records. Described as being filled full of downtempo electro grooves mingled with deep atmospheric sounds, beats and rhythms, Ten Madison's records are being played by chilled, ambient and downtempo DJs all over the world now. Where this genre may have been seen to be in a state of decline, Ten Madison has stepped up to show it is still very much alive.
The majority of the tracks here are comprised of gentle breakbeats backed up by sparing amounts of soothing synths and ambient pads. You come across various electro based melodies which add just the right amount of bass and purpose for these tracks to come alive as songs and pieces of music. There are nice tracks included which reply on a lead instrument such asa piano or guitar and some of the drumlines take on a chilled out drum 'n' bass feel, which is good in terms of variance but also kind of what you'd expect in a chilled out album such as this. The few remaining tracks amongst this nice little bunch are based more heavily towards the ambient soundscape style
Conclusion:
An enjoyable and comprehensive chillout album. Great for using after a hectic night out but also for quiet nights in and those calm before the storm moments prior to going out over the weekend!
