Pamela Fernandez is one of the most sampled vocalists in dance music. She is back again on this upbeat, floor filling track which is guaranteed to get you grooving.
'Kickin' In The Beat 2006' is NOT another re-release using the original vocals from 1992 but contains fresh vocals relaid by Pamela herself.
Phunkin' DJs, aka Rich Barker and Steve Jamieson have been releasing tracks under various guises since the mid 90s and again they have created a floor filling track.
Kickin in the beat 2006
1) Phunktros Club Mix ...
With echos of "The Egg" this track has the same vibe but will get you dancing more as there is more variety. With tasty electro bleeps, brilliant piano work and of course the vocal this is defintly a track to get you off your seats and onto the dance floor at any party.
2) Phunktros Radio Edit ...
Not much can be said about this just a radio edit of the Phunktros remix without the intro and outro that the djs use.
3) Freeflight Mix ...
This is a harder hitting track from the start with lovely tribal style bongos running over the top of a heavy beat. It takes a while to get going while the bongos and steel drums build up into a frenzy and then after a little filter the vocals start to drift in as though on the wind. It carries on with the vocals floating in and out and some other random vocals coming in while the twanging of electro bleeps cuts through the breakdown. Once it kicks in after the breakdown you get a totally different vibe which is more uplifting.
4) Freephunkers Club Mix ...
This again uses some tribal drums but hits heavy with a piano riff less than a minute in. It is more of a groovy old skool style heavily influenced by the piano and vocals. This isnt really isnt a track that i could see working at a party other than a classic house one.
5) Freephunkers Radio Edit ...
Again a radio edit of the club mix bringing you just the main part.
6) Bently Club Mix ...
This uses the tribal drum influence with a nice deep bassline that runs under the vocals. A nice synth line builds this track up with an almost trancy twist. Very commercial sounding a track that would really get people moving on a dance floor in the right club. With the usual drops to just vocal and synth line this is a classic track fully refreshed for 2006. The piano line hits hard and really adds the energy this track needs.
7) Bently Radio Edit ...
Another radio edit .. This one showing just the main piano parts and synth lines.
Conclusion:
My favourite track on this CD has to be the Phunktros Club Mix ... it works so well on dance floors that I have played and it never fails to get myself or the crowd moving.
