Carlo Resoort is back with a pair of new tunes which again are showing diversity, variation from the norm and most importantly, lots of praise and good feedback. Read on...
:: Carlo Resoort - Tom Tom / Battery :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ068
A: Tom Tom 'Tom Tom' is made up of some great new sounds. It relies heavily on two things. Percussion and filthy dirty synths. Behind it is a medley of pretty tough beats and a kind of distorted, grinding bassline which is present for most parts of the track. This gives the track a raw feeling right from the start but there's also a slightly progressive feel which comes from a more highly pitched synth, kind of 'pinging' away in the background. The main drive comes from some massive, bassy synths which grind and almost rip out away from the track - quality! This sure to (well, it will, I've seen it) get the floor moving with lots of grooving and 'underarm' dancing as those awesome bass notes ripple through the crowd! Simple, but oh so effective.
Battery 'Battery' is a dark, menacing production. The beat slaps it's way along, deep and atmospheric basses line the background whilst stabs of stark synths penetrate the foreground. This track is very very minimal, only breaking out slightly when the crisp percussive sections come about, carrying a carnival sound along with them. Despite this, the track easily retains its menace, and continues on its sometimes almost fierce sounding advance. The rest of the track switches between synthy percussive sections and quiet minimal sections. The synthy bits are best, because the jittery rhythms created between them and the dancing percussion are interesting to listen to, as well as being really lively.

Conclusion:
'Tom Tom' is something a little different which will inject some groove into the dancefloors while 'Battery' is something even more different, almost in a class of its own with its dark and menacing nature.
