Johnny Crockett, 1/2 of Delano & Crockett, has it's first solo release on the fresh Fudge label. Read on to check it out.
Johnny Crockett presents it's first solo release which is called 'E for Electro'. The popular remixers HI_Tack are also involved. Wanna know how the tracks are..? Let's check it out!
A1) Johnny Crockett - E For Electro (HI_Tack's Flipperkast Mix)
HI_Tack is almost always involved with Delano & Crockett tracks, so also with this Johnny Crockett release. HI_Tack starts the track with a nice drive and some fast short sounds that refer to a pinball machine (and that's 'flipperkast' in Dutch ;)). After 1 minute the short vocal that says 'E for Electro' comes in and is followed by some really mellow clubby beats and synths. This reminds me of The Klubbheads and that is surely no coincidence in this case. This clubby feelings goes on the whole record and also in the break the catchy synths don't stop. Normally it should bore when a same line goes on the whole track..but in one or another way this catchy lines goes away with it. Together with the fast pinball machine sounds and mellow beats it should really work on the dancefloor.
B1) Johnny Crockett - E For Electro (Johnny Crockett's Here's Johnny Mix)
Crockett's mix start off with computer-like sounds and firm beats which give the track some more tempo then HI_Tack's mix. Then the beats are cut off and the short vocal line comes in to make us ready for the re-entry of the beats and some heavy bass action. This is for a short while as there is again a pause to build up to a same situation, but now also some strong claps are supporting the beats. And yes, this is also for a short while. The track builds up again to a climax when the bass enters first and then the further claps, beats and percussion. Although there are maybe too much breaks in the track it's certainly a fun track..but can not compete with HI_Tack's mix on the A-side.
B2) Johnny Crockett - E For Electro (Hi_Tack's Voxless Flipperkast Mix)
Hi_Tack also delivered their 'Flipperkast Mix' with no vocals. So the track is quite the same because the vocals don't have a very big roll in the track. As I don't see the vocal as an irritating factor in the track this mix doesn't have any worth to me personally. For the people who don't like short female vocal lines because of it's 'cheese factor' this mix is ofcourse an outcome.
Conclusion:
A cool clubby mix with some old-skool sounds from HI_Tack and a decent own mix of mister Crockett himself. I expect both to work well on the international dancefloors. So if you like not too difficult house, surely go listen to this one at your favourite recordshop.
