The latest offering o Existence records comes in the form of a three track EP from Argentinean group Be As Deep. Expect some seriously meaty progressive grooves in this release.

Existence has a habit of releasing some real progressive gems and this little five track EP is a very welcome surprise, it’s like a little album all in itself.

A1: The Finder
A2: The Other Dimension
A3: The Other Dimension (More Bass Mix)
A4: My Mind Is Dark
A5: My Mind Is Dark (More Percussive Mix)

The Finder

The first record to be found in this three track bundle of goodness is very suitable named, The Finder. What can be found in this track? It’s a good mixture of laid back progressive beats with synth based epics that slide in and out of the track. The steady beat going through the track acts as a good catalyst for the sounds to be found in it. It breaks and builds up using very atmospheric leads. The sharp symbol kicks In here are very go nicely with the beat and I like the way the track has been put together overall. Its very progressive with excellent dreamy metallic sounding breaks with swirly gushes that bring back the beat.

The Other Dimension

From the opening sound that makes you feel like you’re the only one in an iron ore factory and all you can hear is the echo sound of a metal bar hits the floor to the deep thud that is the beat driving through your chest you can tell this is a good record. The Other Dimension comes in two mixes, an original and a more bass mix. The original is a progressive deep builder with swirling sounds packing the background of the track. Like the sound of soothing wind on metal surfaces is what the tone of this record reminds me of. Deep flowing breaks slide in and then filter back into the beat. Progressive heads will love this I’m sure. The other mix of this record comes in the form of the More Bass mix which as the mix name suggests adds deeper tones to the beat but remains very similar to the original. The breakdown is a little fiercer but the pattern of the track keeps the same. I would say this mix is the more energetic out of the two

My Mind Is Dark

We move onto the final tracks on this progressively delightful EP. The deep but slightly sharper beat bangs away and the deep groove kicks into the background. It’s a well worked, funky deep riff that works well with the beat and kicks to give the track punch. The flow of the record is good and the progressive build and swirling wind like loops around the deep groove in the track. The addition of a strange vocal that talks about space creates the sense of depth that the record offers. It offers a nice break from the progressive nature of the beats. The more percussion mix here adds just that, more percussion to the background. The symbol kicks are filtered out and have extra synths with the beat being sharper still. The groove from the original is still there but in a different sound. When the track breaks and the dark chimes sound there is a motion that builds the beat back up and fizzles out into a different sound. It’s a refreshing take on a good original track.

Conclusion:
Progressive fans will lap this up for every meal of the day. A very strong three track EP with each track offering a different progressive trip but each having an atmospheric edge to them. Although my only comment would have been to not make the tracks so long but then it would not be progressive if they were not. A very good release in all.
