When a record get signed on Vandit you know its not going to be a clanger. Here's a very tasty collaboration between Lange and rising Trance jock Gareth Emery worth putting on the turntable.
This would be number 64 on Paul van Dyk's very own Vandit label. It's been going a fair few years but only seems to sign a certain crème de le crème of records. For me anyway the Vandit label is an ever consistent form of quality dance music. Here's the latest and it’s from Lange and Gareth Emery.
A1: Another You Another Me (Original Mix) B1: Another You Another Me (Terranova & Austin Leeds Mix)
Let’s be honest when your scanning through tracks you don’t always listen to them all the way through first. You get to the meat of the record and see if it sounds any good on initial impression, wherever you land the needle on the original mix your find a sound that just says listen to me more. The original mix is excellent and more so. It's got the good beat and an electric techy groove that builds up the momentum for what is an orgasmic epic melody. When the melody comes it hits you right in the face with its uplifting tone and big synth changes in the background all adding effect. What follows is a breakbeat electric riff riff with water falling sounds showing over the top. On the build up there is a harmonising vocal, not so much in words but volume, then the melody slides in with all the rest of the sounds slipping in to make it an excellent record. Uplifting trance with the new style of tech sounds that seam’s to be the norm for now in the genre.
Moving onto the remix then, Terranova and Austin Leads give a different take from the original. It's more a progressive styled beat that chugs along with the original's groove builds being stutter and chopped up. Lots of stop and start style techy sounds to be found in this mix. The main melody is kept untouched from the original and placed into the track on two rounds. It’s a different approach and a nice change from the original.
Conclusion:
This is one of my favourite records at the moment. Being honest I’m not really fond of the Terranova & Austin Leeds Mix but this is worth buying just for the original. One of the strongest trance releases this year without a doubt I’d say and one I’m sure that many top line DJ’s will be hammering if they haven’t already.
