The first ever release for new digital label Dance DP will be arriving in time for Christmas. It’s the Travelling EP from D-Mark and it’s rather good.

:: Project Norway
:: That’s Cool
:: Travelling

Release Date: 19th December

No vinyl’s, no CD’s and most definitely no tapes just pure digital media. It’s here and it’s not going away. DanceDP are a brand new label only set up this month and concentrating on offering digital only releases of the up most quality. Not only are they are new label but for their first offering they bring a brand new artist into the Trance scene called D-Mark. Three records to pick from with this release, so let’s cut the starter and get into the main course.

I’ll start with Travelling as it was the first one of the bunch I played first. This one has a good foundation to start with bring in the beat and add kicks and snares before introducing a deeper bassline to work along with the beat. You can feel its building up to something here although my only thought with the track was it did not need the vocal bursts that come in on the chord changes as the track builds up to the melody. The build onto the melody is upbeat and uplifting and when it all cuts and starts to build up the riff created just slams uplifting quality right in your face and leaves you gagging for another burst of it. This is excellent trance that goes back to the basics of a good record with big uplifting chord changes and pounding percussion. It’s fair to say I like this one.

Moving onto the next track of our threesome, That’s Cool turns the pace down, but only a slight notch, and gives you a cleaner cut, happier melody to enjoy. The beat is a little deeper and pounds down with a bit more vigour than the previous track. The percussion, kicks and bassline are all working to create an uplifting feel here with the beat cutting and symbol kicks hiding the melody that’s lurking behind ready to jump out. You can hear it in the background on the build before the tone changes to raise it for the foreground. High note changes and excellent builds give the record the energy to burst back to the beat with good punch. This track is cool, it’s not just the name that is. Uplifting trance that does not overcomplicated things.

Project Norway is the final track of this very tasty EP. The opening build on this track plays around with the symbol kicks to create that stutter type sound from the kick in the beat. It flows very nicely from the start and the melody feeds its way in early ready to change tone and unleash a break that brings in the main melody, coming from the distance and into the foreground accompanied by a break beat sequence that feeds the uplifting build that is to come. This is more uplifting goodness with excellent tone changes to keep the track interesting. Great trance sounds.

Conclusion:
My first thoughts on this EP were good ones as from my initial take from the tracks were a sense that we have uplifting trance how it should be. It starts to go somewhere and finishes the journey. There are a lot of tracks out there that start to create an uplifting sequence but don’t put in that change that would make it sparkle. All three tracks in this release have the same sounding beat but each offers a different uplifting vibe that is pleasing to the Trance ear. I would pencil in That’s Cool to be my favourite out of these three, it’s just got a sound that I like. This is great new Trance from an artist who deserves praise for producing three excellent records. I look forward to hearing more from this label and D-mark next year. Keep an eye out.
