In the summer of 2006 BNE exposed the first chapter of a brand new compilation series to the global Trance scene, Advanced Options. For the 2nd chapter Future Prophecy was selected to handpick some of his favourite tunes and the outcome is smashing.
Tracklist: 1. Psycraft vs. Beat Hackers - Night Drive (Future Prophecy RMX) 2. Sesto Sento vs. Apocalypse - Trance in Motion 3. Time Lock- Inner Bright 4. Astral Projection-The Prophecy 5. Basic - Days of Power 6. The Freak Show -Fantasy 7. Echotek -Your Inside Voice 8. Bwicked- R U Ready 9. Atomic Pulse vs Cyrus The Virus-Unreal 10. Future Prophecy - Feel The Vibration
Future Prophecy has done a great job with putting this progressive and psy influenced trance compilation together. He has managed to do the hard thing of mixing great tracks with a wide variation and in a good order. Some tunes are a little bit more energetic while some are a little softer and a couple of other tunes contribute with vocals. The lowest level on this compilation is really high although as always there are some peaks and some troughs. One tune that sticks out from the crowd is the fourth track by the legendary Astral Projection. Their track ‘The Prophecy’ is truly a great piece of the more psy influenced trance. The tune is a real killer with a pumping main melody which feels raw and just emits pure energy. Dozens of elements melt together into a whole and build up into a massive brigade that just makes a conquest in your mind. The next peak kicks in a few tracks later and when it comes you’ll get knocked down. This tune called ‘Unreal’ by Atomic Pulse Vs. Cyrus The Virus is one of the a little more softer tracks but with a blend of power. But what this track has is breathtaking, scorching acid lines which are out of control. Another track that pops out a bit from the masses is the third tune. This one possesses some cool vocal works, a mix between distorted male chants and crystal clear female vocals. However from time to time this track has a little problem as it’s on the line to becoming a bit cheesy. The last track by Mr. Future Prophecy himself starts off really smooth and I expected it to continue in the same way, in an ambient kind of style to round things off. Instead it evolved into more of a psytrance style that has permeated this album. But it feels like the track is a mix of too many things and feels too incoherent. Decent track but too weak to round things off.
Conclusion:
Future Prophecy has done a great job compiling this baby with a great varierty. It doesn’t get boring and it has those peaks that just make you go crazy. My advice is for everyone out there who likes some high quality trance to go and buy this CD now, you’ll get a lot for the money!
