It's been nearly 10 years since 'Silmarillia' was released way back in 1998. It's making a return now though as Leon Bolier and 4 Strings have cooked up some brand new remixes for 2007...!
:: Carlos - Silmarillia 2007 :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ067
A: Silmarillia 2007 (Leon Bolier Remix) First up is Leon Bolier's offering. This remix immediately demonstrates Leon's trademark husky, techy sound. A ripping bass synth puts out a driving hook and this is amplified by the addition of another, much deeper and rumbling bassline to create an initial sound which is forceful yet sumptuous in nature. The lead melody comes in during the breakdown, played by a Shakuhachi which is backed up by a thick layer of ambient 'ibizian' chords. This is your only respite though, as that dominant, ripping bass explodes from this point and drives the track home with an easy going and catchy hook which has a nice, slightly uplifting quality to it.
AA: Silmarillia 2007 (4 Strings Remix) The 4 Strings take on this track features their familiar active and rolling style bass. Along with the lively percussion, the track is given a really energetic feel right from the word go. The melody/chord progression comes in early here, played by softer, more flowing synths and this works really well. The style of trance is much more uplifting and euphoric - well, just like we're used to for most 4 String productions! The structure is kept simple with the Shackuhachi appearing in the calming breakdown again and then continuing as the track drops back in. Less punch and more energy, a very enjoyable track!

Conclusion:
A nice rehash of a tune gone by. These remixes really do focus heavily on each remixer's particular style, so check it out if you're into either Leon Bolier's techy precision or 4 Strings' energetic, summery trance.
