Here's a pair of tracks from Ali Wilson and DMF on the tough and chunky Tekelec imprint, which certainly live up to their label's reputation...
:: Ali Wilson & DMF - Screwball / Emanation :: Tekelec Records :: TEKE010
1) Screwball The only early hints of techiness that this one gives away near the beginning are small snippets and jitters of robotic sounding synths and sfx. Soon though a gritty bassline is developed and the real tech journey begins. This track is a haven of groovy rhythms, infectious percussion and really grimey, rough sounding synths. After the main breakdown and climax, a superbly groovy riff is introduced. It has a funky, upbeat and almost jazzy feeling and brings a wealth of life to the track. This unique combination of sounds, styles and features make this production stand out very well from the crowd.
2) Emanation 'Emanation' actually follows in the same style as 'Screwball'. This isn't surprising, since it's a great style which has been created. There is a tribal element to be heard in the percussion, coming mainly from hollow sounding drums and tomtoms. There is also a nice acoustic touch. Hints of guitar, both acoustic and bass seem to creep though. The grimey electronic element is introduced in the breakdown as another funky and totally catchy riff. When the track drops back in, the riff and the tribal percussion simply take things away. There's no need for changes as the feeling is so lively and soul warming.

Conclusion:
These have been floating around for a short while now, so check them out if you haven't already. They've received a lot of attention from Carl Cox and let's face it, when is the big man ever wrong?
